Welcome Address

On behalf of the international organizing committee of the 2nd Asian Applied Physics Conference (Asian-APC), I would like to extend our cordial welcome and appreciation to all the participants in this conference.

This conference started as an international session of annual meeting of the Kyushu Chapter, Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) in 2014 in collaboration with Korean Physical Society, Busan-Ulsan-Kyungnam Branch and Applied Physics Division. From last year, we upgraded the international session as Asian Applied Physics Conference inviting researchers from China and Thailand also. I am glad to inform you that the numbers of presentations in the international session has increased steadily, starting 4 at Ohita in 2014, 28 at Okinawa in 2015, 45 at Tsushima in 2016 and 54 this year. This is about 40 % of the total presentations of the annual meeting of JSAP Kyushu Chapter. To take one step further, we will start to publish proceedings of the Asian-APC this year as a special issue of Journal of Physics: Conference Series (JPSC) by IOP publishing, which is an open access journal indexed in Scopus. We believe that this would give a good opportunity especially for the young participants to publish their research results internationally.

Purpose of this conference is to provide an opportunity to students and young researchers for making exchange their ideas and have an experience for communicating with foreign counterparts in their research areas. We believe that such experience is inevitable for students. It would be also a very good opportunity for regular members to form an international network among Asia.

I hope we can provide a good opportunity through this conference enabling in-depth technical discussion, exchange of knowledge and friendship in order to make strengthen the cooperation among our Asian applied physics community. Please also enjoy beautiful nature and rich culture at Miyazaki.

In closing, I would like to thank to the committee members and sponsors for their great support.

Sincerely yours,

  Prof. Takanobu Kiss
Chairman of the International Organization Committee, Asian-APC
Deputy Director of the Kyushu Chapter, Japan Society of Applied Physics
