┗ He graduated Department of Electronics in Kyushu University in 1970 and obtained Master Degree from Kyushu University in 1972. He occupied the post of Research Associate in Kyushu University in 1973, received Doctor Degree of Engineering from Kyushu University and started to work as Associate Professor in 1980. He moved to Kyushu Institute of Technology as Professor in 1990. He retired Kyushu Institute of Technology and was Professor Emeritus in 2011.
   His research covers the area of flux pinning and related electromagnetic phenomena in superconductors. Calculation of the elementary pinning force based on Ginzburg-Landau theory and estimation of the global pinning force density using the mean field theory are subjects of the flux pinning mechanism. The latter subjects of the electromagnetic phenomena include the theoretical derivation of the critical state model using the first principles and the investigation of peculiar properties in a current-carrying superconductor in a parallel magnetic field (the longitudinal magnetic effect). These subjects were published in “Flux Pinning in Superconductors” from Springer.
   Recently he proposed the idea of innovative superconducting DC cable using the longitudinal magnetic field effect, i.e., an enhanced critical current density in a parallel magnetic field. It is expected that the current-carrying capacity can be appreciably increased by employment of the proposed cable structure.

┗ Professor Takanobu Kiss received his doctorate in 1991 from Kyushu University (KU), Japan. That April, he became a faculty member at KU, and has been a full professor since 2007. He is expert in the area of superconducting materials. His group has developed novel characterization techniques including low temperature laser scanning microscopy and advanced magnetic microscopies to clarify electromagnetic properties of superconducting materials. These studies focus on the understanding and resolving key performance issues of superconducting forefront materials. He has published 200+ research papers, 5 book chapters, and given 60+ invited talks at international meetings. He is recipient of the 10th and 19th Award on Superconductor Science and Technology in 2006 and 2015, respectively, both by the Society of Non-Traditional Technology. He has experiences to organize several international conferences/symposiums including the chairman of ISS2014, the chairman of CCA2010, leading organizer of superconductivity symposium at IUMRS-ICA2014, conference secretariat of ICEC24-ICMC2012, and co-organizer of MRS 2016S, 2012S and 2008S. Currently, he is the member of ASC Board of Directors, ICEC Board of Directors, International Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences, International Editorial Board of the Springer Open Journal of Nano Convergence, the Chairman of Superconductors Division of the Japan Society of Applied Physics, and the Chairman of the Int’l Exchange Committee of Cryogenics and Supercond. Soc. of Japan.

┗ Yuh Shiohara received his Dr. degree in Metallurgy from Waseda University in 1979, and joined Materials Processing Center of M.I.T. (USA) in1980 as a Research Associate. He moved to ISTEC in 1988, serving as a Division Director in Superconductivity Research Laboratory (SRL) in ISTEC. From Feb. of 2009 to April of 2014, he served as the Director General of SRL-ISTEC. Since April of 2014 he has been serving as The Director General Emeritus of SRL-ISTEC and he has held an additional post of the Senior Managing Director of Industrial Superconductivity Technology Research Association (iSTERA). He also served as the Project Leader of the 5-year NEDO-METI Japan national project (FY2008~2012) on R&D of Materials and Power Applications of Coated Conductors (M-PACC). He served as an adjunct-lecturer at the graduate schools in the several universities, including University of Tokyo, Waseda University, the Nagoya University, Kyushu University and Yokohama National University. He has been named “Superconductor Industry Person of the Year for 2005”. He published more than 600 papers related to the superconductivity research field since 1990. He received the “Top Cited Article 2005-2010 (Physica C)” award in 2011.

┗ He received B.S degree in Electrical Engineering from Changwon National University in 1997 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Osaka University in 2000 and 2002, respectively. Currently, he is a head of Smart-Mechatronic Creative Corps. and a professor of Department of Electrical Engineering, Changwon National University, Korea. His research interests are the development of superconducting electric power applications based on 2nd generation high temperature superconductor, power system analysis in connection with the superconducting devices using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS)-based power hardware-in-the Loop Simulation (PHILS).

┗ Dr. Takenori Numazawa received doctorate in 1989 from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. His major was applied physics in low temperatures.
   In 1989, he moved as a full time researcher to National Research Institute for Metals (NRIM), science and technology agency of Japanese government. In 1990-1991, he was invited as a visiting scientist from MIT. During his stay, he got to know one doctor course student, Sangkwon Jeong, later became a professor of KAIST. They have close relations in cryogenic field.
   Currently he is a principal researcher of National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), and also a director of magnetic energy conversion laboratory, NIMS open innovation center. He has developed useful materials for cryogenic field, and now is focusing on the magnetic cooling technology covering from room to ultra-low temperatures.

┗ Professor Shinji Masuyama received his doctorate in 1996 from Nihon University, Japan. That April, he became an assistant in College of Science and Technology, Nihon University.
   In 1997, he moved to National Institute of Technology (NIT), Oshima College. And he became a professor in Department of Electronic-Mechanical Engineering of NIT, Oshima College in 2014. From this fiscal year, he is a chief of that department.
One of his major studies is to improve the efficiency of 4K cryocoolers. In particular, he has focused on regenerator materials and regenerator structures. Three years ago, he developed a unique regenerator structure named “co-axial layout”. This is a novel filling method of regenerator materials. After that, he has investigated some other ideas for regenerator structures. Furthermore, he has joined the collaboration regarding development of new regenerator materials that can be utilized from 4 to 20 K.
   In 2003, he sabbatical stayed in Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) in Daejeon, Korea. He did collaboration with the KIMM’s staff to develop a Stirling type pulse tube cryocooler. From this experience, he knows Korean culture, has many Korean friends, and can read Hangul.

┗ Professor Hyung-Seop Shin received the B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kyungpook National University in 1981 and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Eng. from Tohoku University in Japan, in 1991. In the period of 1991~1995, he worked at Tohoku University and Iwate University as research associate and assistant professor. Since 1995, he has been with Andong National University, where he is a full professor at the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering since 2004. He is an expert in the field of mechanical and electromechanical properties evaluation of superconducting materials. Recently, he has developed a jointing procedure of 2G CC tapes with a low contact joint resistance by applying the ultrasonic welding method. His research interests include the evaluation of electromagnetic property (EMP) in HTS/LTS composite wires, and the characterization of mechanical behaviors of advanced materials like bulk metallic glass and hydrogen materials. He is recipient of the Academic Award of the year of 2013 by the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (KSME). He is the current editor-in-chief of the Progress in Superconductivity and Cryogenics (PSAC), which is the joint journal of the Korea Institute of Applied Superconductivity and Cryogenics (KIASC) and Korea Superconductivity Society (KSS).

┗ He Received the B. S., M. S., and Ph. D. degrees in electrical Engineering from SungKyunKwan University, Seoul, Korea, in 1993, 1995 and 2001, respectively. He is currently a Senior Manager in a Power Grid Planning Department at Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO), Korea, His interests include High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) facilities development and application & grid reliability standard policies.

┗ He Received the B. S., M. S., and Ph. D. degrees in electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1982, 1989 and 2013, respectively. He is currently a Vice President in a Power Grid Planning Department at Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO), Korea, His interests include High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) facilities development and application & grid planning policies.
